Pine oak and fruit are the traditional woods of country house and cottage furniture. These materials could literally be gathered from outside the front door or nearby woodlands and brought from the countryside directly into the home. Fashioned by members of the household or local village carpenters, each piece would have such an individual character to it, an aspect which is so appreciated today. Regularly in stock are kitchen and work tables, chest of drawers, linen chests and coffers, country chairs and stools, small wardrobes and bedside cabinets, flights of drawers and rocking chairs, boxes, bowls and pews.
